Our trustees share responsibility for governing StreetGames and provide direction by agreeing the vision, mission and values for the charity.
John Cove – Chair, Welfare & Safety Lead and Safeguarding Lead

Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… I passionately believe in the power of sport to help less advantaged communities and individuals access a range of services and strategies that will help improve their life chances
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… Being privileged to hear the stories of individuals directly impacted by StreetGames’ work. Their triumphs over adversities are something to behold.
Favourite sport to watch or play… Football is, unsurprisingly, my no.1 sport, but I do like cricket too and am proud of the work we do with Chance to Shine to help get cricket into communities that might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience this wonderful sport.
Peter Rowley – Senior Independent Director

Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… My passion for sport was instrumental in my youth. After retirement, I wanted to be involved in harnessing the power of sport to encourage positive change in the lives of disadvantaged young people. There is no better exemplar of this than StreetGames.
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… Involvement in a worthwhile cause and engaging with inspirational young people.
Favourite sport to watch or play… As a participant, trail running in the Lake District. As a spectator, any sport!

Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… I’ve always been an admirer of the charity and what it stands for. The opportunity to play a small part in shaping its future was too good an opportunity to miss.
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… Learning about the impact of the work we do – either directly or though the vast network of community organisations.
Favourite sport to watch or play… Hill-walking.

Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… I love sport and know first-hand what a transformational effect it can have on us, physically and psychologically. When I heard about StreetGames’ brilliant work, I wanted to support the team to continue to make a difference to many thousands of young people’s lives, through the power of sport.
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames…
Favourite sport to watch or play… I’m a cricket badger, and play for a great London club. I also run, swim and cycle regularly.

StreetGames trustee since… 2021
Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… I joined StreetGames to help secure better lives for young people. I am a great believer in the beneficial power of sport. If we do not exploit that power in order to support vulnerable and disadvantaged young people, we could witness irreparable damage to individuals and society.
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… My favourite thing about being a trustee is seeing the great work done by the charity and the impact it has on the lives of young people. My second favourite thing is witnessing the dedication and professionalism of the StreetGames staff.
Favourite sport to watch or play… Football, sadly only as a spectator.

StreetGames trustee since… 2021
Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… I worked for Coca-Cola during the London 2012 Olympic Games and helped create the partnership they had with StreetGames back then, which in turn enabled me to see how the organisation used the power of sport to transform lives and act as a positive social influence in local communities. When the opportunity came up 10 years later to get involved again with StreetGames, I jumped at it!
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… Having the opportunity to see the delivery of StreetGames funded projects on the ground and the positive impact that these have within communities and on individuals. Being able to hear directly from StreetGames’ participants on how their involvement has had a positive impact on their lives is the best part of the role for me.
Favourite sport to watch or play… Football is what I enjoy the most, both as a player (albeit a veteran!) and as a fan (Crystal Palace).

Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… Being a lover of the hills and mountains, I know the therapeutic, inspirational, educational and fun experiences that being out there gives you. Through Doorstep Sport, young people can experience similar things, enriching their lives and inspiring them to step into spaces they might not otherwise have thought possible.
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… Seeing the passion that everyone involved in StreetGames has and brings to the table, all for the benefit of our young people. It’s a privilege to be amongst them all.
Favourite sport to watch or play… Getting into the hills and mountains, walking and scrambling.

Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… I became a trustee for StreetGames because I believe that all young people should have the opportunity to access the benefits of taking part in or watching sport.
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… Being surrounded by talented people full of energy, hearing the stories of the young people we work with, and seeing the difference they make in their own community.
Favourite sport to watch or play… Football.

StreetGames trustee since… 2017
Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… I have always been excited by the idea of supporting activity in local communities and encouraging the less active, and I worry a lot about the less privileged areas of our society. After being asked if I might apply to StreetGames, I was really excited and thrilled when after various interviews I got the role.
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… I have a real sense of being involved in something important and worthwhile, and whilst I have spent many hours over dinner attempting to convince people that banking is worthwhile, it is understandably easy as regards StreetGames.
Favourite sport to watch or play… As a spectator I am an ardent Leeds United fan. I have been slowly (12 years) cycling around the coast of Great Britain. Every road nearest the coast and every island with a circular road. We have gone from Southend to Swansea anti-clockwise so far.

StreetGames trustee since… 2017
Why I became a trustee for StreetGames… Sport has always been a huge part of my life and I have benefited from it enormously over the years. I am a big believer in the power of sport to effect change, both in individual lives and in communities, and I want every child and young person to have access to the benefits and opportunities that come with participating in sport and physical activity.
Favourite thing about being a trustee for StreetGames… The passion that everyone at StreetGames has for what they do never ceases to impress and inspire me. Hearing directly from participants about how involvement with the StreetGames network has affected their lives is always a highlight, especially when we get to hear from those who started as participants in programmes and have gone on to become the advisors helping to run them.
Favourite sport to watch or play… I love anything active, and am frequently found in the outdoors (whether that’s on a pitch, up a mountain or on/in the water), but Netball is my favourite and the biggest constant – I played throughout school, then university, and I now play with a club in London.
